My Houppelande - How I Did It
My Houppelande:
This is my houppelande. (And yes, I'm the one wearing it.)
Houppelande: roughly 13 yards of green brocade (polyester), 2 1/3 yards of silvery grey satin (polyester), 1,500+ yards of black thread, 600+ yards of green thread, 150+ yards of silvery grey thread, fastened at throat by a silver-and-pearl brooch, and belted with my Sergeantry belt. (Obviously, I didn't make the belt or the brooch. Or my glasses. But I made the dress, fillet and veil!)
Veil: 1/2 yard of dark grey silk gauze, 70+ yards of silvery-grey thread, affixed to fillet by 3 pearl-tipped "short" hatpins.
Fillet: 13x4 inch rectangle of plastic grid-mesh, cut
